2011 Safety Leadership Award – Large Company:
 
Chemco Electrical Contractors Ltd.
Chemco, a large electrical contractor, has been a member of the Construction Owners Association of Alberta for more than a decade has actively helped out in the development of best practices in a number of areas. Chemco’s safety leadership is shown in their development of multi-tiered supervisory training which includes internal training, industry training, Leadership for Safety Excellence training which 80 percent of supervisors have completed, and Better Supervision training which 50 percent of supervisors have completed. Chemco has also produced a Supervisory video—Gary’s Story—that reinforces the role and responsibilities of supervisors in safety. The video was made available to all construction industry stakeholders through the Alberta Construction Safety Association.
